Diy Tiles
DIY tiles is about doing it yourself and saving some money or feeling a great satisfaction of a completed job. There are many different places in your home where you can diy tiles yourself. In your kitchen floors or counter tops, on your bathroom floors or counters, in the foyer, on your fireplace, on stairs, on the kitchen back splash, or in your shower on the shower walls or floor. If you are going to tackle the shower tile yourself you will want to do a few things different then your other diy tile jobs. The tile that goes around the shower enclosure needs to be installed on some sort of water proof tile. If you are using small wall tiles then aqua board will work, if you are using larger floor tiles then using dense shield or cement board will work a lot better. If you are going to install a shower pan or shower base that is premade then not a big deal, but if you are also going to diy tiles on your shower floor you will want to hook your shower drain up to a shower liner. This is a rubber like mat that will help contain water if your grout or tiles start to leak at some point in the future. When you diy tiles on the walls around your shower faucet make sure to leave room for the screws for the face plate to go on later, it is best to leave the rough-in plate on while doing the tiles. Then make sure you have a piece of pipe where your shower head and arm will be going. I was on a job once where the tiler took out my pipe. Now what? I had to break the tile and guess where the shower head was going. I only missed by a little bit so he only needed to put in a bit of grout to fix the hole, but this could have been a nightmare. If you are doing the shower plumbing yourself make sure to test for leaks, if not then make sure the plumber tested for leaks. Having to do a shower repair later on can cause for a large headache that you should not have to deal with at this stage.
Thanks for reading and best of luck with your diy tiles.
